Who We Are
The Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound) strives to increase disease recognition, provide advocacy, facilitate expert surgical training, and fund landmark endometriosis research. Engaged in a robust campaign to inform both the medical community and the public, EndoFound places particular emphasis on the critical importance of early diagnosis and effective intervention while simultaneously providing education to the next generation of medical professionals and their patients.
The ENPOWR™ Project is a school and community-based endometriosis education program to raise awareness and promote treatment-seeking behavior through interactive lessons. ENPOWR stands for Endometriosis: Promoting Outreach and Wide Recognition, and it is the only school and community-based endometriosis education program in the United States.
What We Do
By equipping students with menstrual health knowledge and the skills to self-advocate, we hope to empower students to take charge of their health and ultimately decrease the average 10-year delay to diagnosis for those with endometriosis.
The EndoFound staff have been hard at work creating an all-new curriculum for the ENPOWR™ Project, including a series of animated videos geared toward teaching adolescents about endometriosis. These video modules (via e-courses and presentation aids) help teens identify symptoms of abnormal menstruation and endometriosis, provide tools for tracking symptoms and seeking care, strategies for supporting loved ones with endometriosis, and much more.
We rely on our volunteer Endo Educators to bring this program to local schools and community programs through interactive presentations. Presentations can be offered in class settings (health, biology, and human development classes are most often interesting!), assemblies, and health fairs--anywhere the opportunity is offered. We've designed these materials to be flexible and can work with you to adapt the presentation based on time and audio/visual constraints.
How to Help:
Engaging with the ENPOWR™ Project is a powerful way to raise awareness about endometriosis.
Individuals can actively participate by:
- Taking the ENPOWR course to gain comprehensive insights into endometriosis
- Becoming an "Endo Educator" to share knowledge within your school and community
- Signing up a school to host an ENPOWR™ presentation
- Submit a short video of your story to be posted on our social media (see instructions)
- Referring a nurse to our working group (contact carolyn@endofound.org)
Following ENPOWR™ on social media is another effective way to stay updated and join the conversation. Lastly, spreading the word by telling a friend about ENPOWR™ amplifies the impact, creating a network of informed advocates dedicated to breaking the silence surrounding endometriosis.
